This is an occasional group.

Meetings are arranged from time to time when enough people have expressed interest in hearing the talks.

There are two linked talks:
I   Latin & Greek in the Garden
 II   Anglo-Saxon in the Garden

The first talk explains the principles behind the scientific naming of plants and includes a glossary of some frequently used elements borrowed from the classical languages to name plants.

The second looks at the vernacular names of plants, and what they say about their history, significance and uses – medicinal, magical and culinary.
