We currently meet at the New Mills Golf Club on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, with a break in December and during the summer months. We start at 1015 and finish at 1215 with a break for coffee / tea and biscuits. In order to use the facilities we have to join the club as social members at a cost of £5 p.a. and as is usual with U3A events we pay 50p each time we attend.
The general format that we follow is to warm up with some reading and translation of a text, followed by open conversation on topics of interest. I ask for volunteers to select some appropriate text for future meetings, and to bring about 10 copies together with some aide memoires to help with the translation of any particularly demanding words or phrases. We have also found it most agreeable for the volunteer to bring some biscuits to share around as well!
We are a very friendly mixed ability group, and the emphasis is always on conversation rather than grammar. I hope that you will enjoy the time spent with us.
